MESSAGE OF WELCOME FROM PRINCE KWAME KLUDJESON
President Chair, Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation

To My Dear Friends of Sister Cities Fraternity in Africa and Around the Globe

On behalf of the Governing Board, Advisory the staff and the volunteers of the Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation, it is my greatest honour and pleasure to extend to you my compliments and warm welcome to the official website of Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation.

In July 2000, l had my first experience with the Sister Cities fraternity when l participated in an impressive joint conference of the Sister Cities International and the US- Africa Sister Cities Foundation in Denver Colorado. Even though that was my very first time of attending such a conference, it took me no time to understand and appreciate the Sister Cities programmes. Before the conference was over, l successfully got the approval from the US-Africa Sister Cities Foundation Board to host the 2003 12th Annual US-Africa Sister Cities Conference in my country Ghana, Africa.

I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to Mr. Frank-Grant Acquah and his wife of Hanover Park Illinois, USA who introduced me into the Sister Cities fraternity.

Before the 2003 conference in Ghana, I made sure I attended all the international conferences organized by both the US- Africa Sister Cities Foundation and the Sister Cities International. Witnessing such conferences gave me a tremendous experience to plan and organize a successful conference in Ghana.

Before the conference was over, it became clear that majority of the participants especially those from Africa, were of the view that, for Sister City programmes to gain ground in Africa, countries in Africa must have a united front, - an organized Sister Cities organization that will deal with their issues and also establish affiliations with cities worldwide. I therefore started working hard on the ways and means to achieve this vision. Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation today is the response to this holistic call.

In 1956, US President Dwight D.Eisenhower called on citizens of the world to act as citizen diplomats in the hope of reducing future world conflicts.
Eisenhower’s message is as important as ever today. Today, Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation has become a recognised body which works in a close partnership with Sister Cities International and its Affiliates worldwide to strengthen Sister Cities in Africa.

As a grassroots movement, Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation’s activities are based on “People to People” approach to international relations as a supplement to that of “Government to Government”.

The underlying objective of Africa Global Sister Cities program is the promotion of international friendships through the creation and strengthening of the long term partnerships between cities in the world by motivating and empowering private citizens, their municipal officials and business leaders to dialogue and engage with other cities and their citizens through reciprocal culture, tourism, municipal, educational, business, trade, professional, technical exchanges and projects with the ultimate aim of promoting globalisation.

In line with this vision, Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation continues to facilitate the twinning of the relationships between cities in Africa and International communities at large.

In this period, an Africa city or community’s participation in the activities of Africa Global Cities Foundation is very crucial in bringing development to the door steps of such a community as well as enhancing individuals’ development in Africa.

Let us come together as global citizens to share our conviction and learn from the citizen diplomacy concept which promotes friendship and understanding and offers opportunities for a more peaceful and prosperous future for the world.

In such an opportune period, an African city or community’s participation in the activities of Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation is very crucial in bringing development to the door steps of such a community as well as enhancing every individual’s development in Africa

I hope that you will find this official website of Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation a worthwhile exercise. Your contributions, suggestions, comments, corrections are highly welcome.

Please do visit this website that holds Africa and beyond, be a part of its development and let’s reach the world, one community, one individual at a time.

Cordially yours,

Prince Kwame Kludjeson
President Chair
Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation.
